The Havanese Breeder and What You Need to Know
1 comment so farA pet store cannot give you the attention and information you need to have when selecting your Havanese puppy. Therefore, it is best to go directly to the breeder as this also allows you to see where the puppy comes from. In a pet store, you would never know if that puppy came from a puppy mill or other terrible circumstances, which could lead to behavior problems.
Pet store employees are not focused solely on learning about the Havanese puppies they get in, as they have many more animals to sell and other responsibilities within the store. So, they may only be able to tell you the basics such as how big they might get and how long they are expected to live.
But to truly prepare yourself for a Havanese puppy you need much more knowledge then that. And this is why going to a Havanese breeder is the best option for you.
If you have never owned a Havanese puppy before, it cannot be stressed enough that you must talk with and buy from an experienced and professional Havanese Breeders instead of purchasing your puppy from a pet store.
Your Havanese breeder should allow you to look around the puppy’s environment so you can have a better feel of where the puppy comes from and in a pet store you will not have the chance to do that. They also should not be pushy in terms of getting you to purchase a puppy. Good breeders actually try to get a feel of the potential buyer as they care enough for the puppies to make sure they go to a good home. Get a feel for your Havanese breeder and go with your gut.
When it is finally time for you to pick out the Havanese breeder you will be using, you want to make sure that you prepare a list of questions for them. This is not only to educate yourself about Havanese puppies but also to test their knowledge of the subject. Breeders who cannot provide you with extensive Havanese information should be avoided at all costs. This is not to say that they are not good people, who love puppies, but they certainly are not equipped enough to be breeding dogs. It takes more then love to be a Havanese breeder.
Make sure that the breeder allows you to look around in order to get a general feel for the environment that the puppy has been raised in. You also need to listen to your gut feeling so that you are not getting a puppy from a breeder who doesn’t have all their information right.
Basically, do not make this decision based on emotions. Take your time and think it all over before jumping in to buy a new Havanese puppy.
